In the unfortunate event that a fire occurs, we are mandated by the State of Ohio to investigate and determine the cause of each fire. For these purposes the department has three certified fire scene investigators trained by the State of Ohio Fire Marshals Office in Columbus. The department maintains an extensive modern fire investigation kit.
In addition to the obvious duties of investigation these investigators work with private insurance company investigators to help in a quicker recovery for the fire victims. Investigators also counsel juveniles who may be overly curious about playing with fire.
Please keep in mind, the presence of our investigators and or the State Fire Marshal's Office does not imply suspicion but is an investigation tool to determine the cause of a fire.
